Long-term exposures require special items of equipment: a stable, durable outdoor stand, a remote release and filters, which expand the camera’s exposure options. The ever more light-sensitive image sensors of current digital cameras actually lead to restrictions of the possible exposure time. The Rollei Extremium Neutral Density ND8 filter 52mm solves these restrictions and extends the available shooting times by three aperture stops. The even, absolutely colour-neutral grey colouring already prevents colour shifting during the exposure.

Extreme materials for extreme tasks - Gorilla® glass & titanium filter ring
The Rollei Extremium ND8 Filter 52mm was manufactured from particularly resistant Gorilla® glass and temperature-insensitive titanium. The special glass produced by the US traditional manufacturer from Corning, New York is provided with a special coating. The glass blanks must endure an extended period of time in a hot alkaline solution and therefore have an enormously increased surface tension. The outstanding light permeability is retained in the process and there are no distortions either. The temperature-resistant titanium ring ensures that the filter glass is not exposed to any pressure and shearing stresses and can also be easily released from the lens after challenging shoots in nature and in bad weather. With the Luminance Coating yet another additional tempering of the outstanding glass is achieved and mechanical resistance whilst retaining freedom from distortion and the highest possible colour neutrality is perceptibly improved. Even the most minor shifts in colour values already at the shooting location have negative effects on all further processing steps.

The highest quality constantly in focus
Rollei developed its own QM strategy in order to monitor and guarantee the extreme quality standards of the current filter series on a continuous basis. Processes and guidelines were laid down as part of the “engineered & quality controlled in Germany” initiative, which are far superior to the customary methods and requirements of the sector. Tests in accordance with the internationally tested, merciless AQL (accepted quality limit) standard access the manufacturing batches several times one after the other and immediately reject them based on even the smallest objections. You can obtain your Rollei Extremium Round ND8 Filter in the most prevalent lens diameters from 49mm to 82mm.
