The PENTAX WG-8’s solid, airtight body is not only waterproof to a depth of 20 meters and for up to two hours of continuous underwater operation*1 and dustproof against dirt and dust*2 but it’s also shockproof against a fall from heights of up to 2.1 meters*3 crushproof against weights of up to 100kgf (kilogram force)*4 and cold-resistant to temperatures as low as -10°C*5 Thanks to this heavy-duty construction, the WG-8 performs superbly and dependably in harsh, demanding locations, such as in the snow-covered mountains and under water.

The combination of a state-of-the-art back-illuminated CMOS image sensor with approximately 20 effective megapixels and outstanding light receiving efficiency and a high-performance imaging engine mean that the WG-8 can deliver high-resolution, low-noise images that retain excellent resolution even when they are cropped and enlarged.

5X optical zoom lens with a 28mm wide-angle coverage
Within the compact, lightweight body, the WG-8 features a five-times optical zoom lens with an angle-of-view coverage from 5mm to 25mm (equivalent to approximately 28mm to 140mm in the 35mm format), covering a wide range of applications from wide-angle shooting of sweeping landscapes to telephoto shooting of distant subjects.

4K-resolution movie recording
The WG-8 provides 4K-resolution movie recording (at 3840 x 2160 pixels).* In addition to the conventional Movie SR (Shake Reduction) mode, it also features the Movie SR+ mode in the HD and Full HD movie recording modes to assure natural, flawless movie clips free of camera shake and distortion. * The maximum recording length or image size of a single movie file is 25 minutes or 4GB.

Water proof, dust proof and shockproof function
Q: How is the performance of waterproof / dustproof / shockproof?

A: - This camera is provided with a waterproof / dustproof design complying with JIS waterproof grade 8 and JIS dustproof grade 6 (equivalent to IP68).
- The camera satisfies the PENTAX drop test (1.6m height onto a 5cm thick plywood surface) complying with MIL-Standard 810F Method 516.5-Shock testing.
- The camera satisfies the PENTAX test for the waterproof, dustproof, and shockproof performance, but this does not guarantee it will remain free of trouble or damages.
- Waterproof performance is not guaranteed if the camera is exposed to impact such as being dropped or hit.
- The camera's accessories are not waterproof.

Q: What are the storage media?
A: The built-in memory (approximately 68MB), SD, SDHC, SDXC Memory Cards.
*We do not quarantee the operation of memory cards used through the adapter, and we do not recommend the use of micro SD cards. Please use SD, SDHC, or SDXC cards.

Capture and Playback
Q: Can the ISO sensitivity be set in manually?
A: Yes. You can choose [AUTO], ^[125], ^[200], ^[400], ^[800], ^[1600], ^[3200] and ^[6400] from the setting menu.
* When set the [Shake reduction: ON], you can’t choose ISO ^[3200] and ^[6400]. You can choose maximum from ISO ^[1600].
