This little pack of 12 mm silver colored split rings are a problem solver for many photographers every year. They are designed to fit through the fitting or “lug” on a camera body to allow a comfortable neck strap to be secured through them.
The split facility allows for an open end to be easily fed through first and then the rest of the ring is threaded through before closing on itself and forming a secure anchor for the strap to be attached to. Whilst most cameras do come with these when new, they can be lost or broken and so a pack like this provides to solution for re-attaching an existing or new strap.
Many second-hand cameras have had the rings removed by a previous owner, so again this is a simple and effective way of securing the strap of your choice and making your purchase more comfortable to carry when out and about. Because of their small size they can easily be kept in your camera equipment bag to have at hand should you lose or break your current split ring. Of course these can also be used as additional rings for key fobs as well as for photographic uses.
