The GL.iNet Opal (GL-SFT1200) is a compact Wi-Fi 5 router offering a combined wireless speed of up to 1200 Mb/s, including up to 300 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band and up to 867 Mbps on the 5 GHz band. Security and privacy anywhere

Opal lets you create a private Wi-Fi network when using public hotspots, helping to enhance connection security in hotels, cafes, or airports. It supports OpenVPN and WireGuard®, works with over 30 VPN service providers, and allows you to set up your own VPN server using the Web UI 3.0 interface. Additionally, it supports Cloudflare DNS over TLS, encrypting DNS queries and helping to protect user privacy against eavesdropping and data manipulation.

Flexible connection methods and extensive configuration options

The device supports wired connections, repeater mode, 3G/4G USB modems, and tethering, making it easy to tailor your Internet access to your current needs. The repeater function allows you to use an existing wired or wireless network to create your own access point, which is useful both when traveling and when sharing the Internet with family, friends, or coworkers.

OpenWrt and high-performance VPN

The router runs on a modified version of OpenWrt 18.06, which combines simple setup with advanced customization options. The system supports over 5,000 pre-built plugins and apps, which can be managed from the admin panel. Opal also provides VPN throughput of up to 65 Mb/s for WireGuard® and up to 12 Mb/s for OpenVPN in client mode, enabling secure connections without sacrificing ease of use.
