The original Forekaster was designed for wet-weather XC bikes, while the new version is aimed squarely at modern trail bikes with short travel (100-130 mm) - the so-called "downcountry" segment. The new Forekaster (July 2022) is intended to be a "golden tire" that rolls faster than the Minion or even the Dissector, but provides more predictable cornering, climbing and braking traction than the Aspen or Rekon.
