Pegasus the horse god, the celestial stallion portrayed in Coustou's famous statue. A creature of such power, sophistication and nobility that only a God himself would dare attempt to ride him. In this spirit, Parfums de Marlys Pegasus is fragrance nobility in its own right - a skillfully refined version of the fougere style with unexpected notes of almond and vanilla that give it unique lasting power and striking dignity.
Pegasus opens with the aforementioned almond note - slightly sweet, somewhat bitter and warm, given juicy weight by a more traditionally fougere-like bergamot. The heart of the fragrance expands further on the sweet, marzipan-like depth of the almonds, while an unnoted floral accord (lavender and jasmine?) radiates gentle, refined masculinity. In the base, vanilla is the clear star of the show, replacing the mossiness of a traditional fougere with creamy warmth complemented by yellow notes, while a light, sharp sandalwood keeps everything airy enough to still serve the genre. To read Pegasus' notes is to wonder how it gets a categorization as a men's fougere - to smell it, on the other hand, is to be so absorbed in its sophistication and majesty that one has no choice but to understand.
