Ultra-high-speed storage for innovative creators
The new CFexpress Type A standard was developed to provide compact cameras with the ultra-high-speed performance required for cutting-edge video creation. It maximises the capabilities of a-series cameras and the latest image-processing engines. For creators seeking higher levels of performance and expression, this compact card is a must-have.

A new generation of performance
CFexpress Type A – A new standard for compact storage
Super-charge your professional video and photography workflows with Sony’s CFexpress Type A memory cards – ideal for advanced cameras like the a7S III. The world’s first
CFexpress Type A cards, they deliver extraordinary speed, around twice that of the best SDXC cards, in a similarly compact body. With write speeds up to 700MB/s
and professional-level durability, Sony CFexpress Type A cards open up a wide range of new imaging possibilities.

Extraordinary response speed
Dramatically expand your photographic possibilities, with uncompressed continuous RAW shooting for fast-moving action such as motor sports and wildlife. Writing speeds of up to 700MB/s
far outperform even the best SDXC cards, ensuring ultra-fast camera buffer clearance for responsive continuous shooting.

Dependable videography
Sony CFexpress Type A cards are optimised for continuous, high-bandwidth data writing, making them ideal for professional high-bitrate video recording, such as 4K 120p capture on cameras like the a7S III, where dependability is critical. For extra reassurance and video recording stability they also carry the VPG (Video Performance Guarantee) 400.

Ultra-efficient workflow
Dramatically accelerate your workflow with the optimised MRW-G2 card reader and ultra-fast read speeds of up to 800MB/s
for data transfer and backup. Work seamlessly with high-resolution photos and high-bitrate video, to turn projects around at the speed of your imagination.

Rugged. Reliable. Ready.
Partnered with professional equipment like the a7S III, CFexpress Type A memory cards are perfect for the unpredictability of sport and location shoots or the hazards of outdoor expeditions. They are designed for extended professional use in the most challenging environments – from snow-covered mountains to sand-blown deserts – so you can shoot, swap and store with total confidence.

For the roughest places
Thanks to Sony’s unique TOUGH card design, our CFexpress Type A cards offer over 10x greater bend resistance than standard CFexpress cards. Designed for absolute dependability, their rigidity is tested to 150 newtons to protect your card data during drops from up to 7.5 metres – 5 times that mandated by the CFexpress Type A standard.

For the toughest conditions
You can rely on CFexpress Type A memory cards to work faultlessly in extreme temperatures, harsh electrostatic environments and intense UV light or X rays. With IP57 dust and moisture ingress protection your data is safe even from a drop at the beach or an accidental cycle through the washing machine.

Scan and monitor your memory
Over time, flash memory wears out and no longer records data. When used with the MRW-G2 card reader, Sony’s Media Scan Utility automatically scans your CFexpress Type A memory card, keeping you informed of its condition so you can take action before it reaches the limit.

Recover lost files
Even when things go wrong, you can avoid disaster with downloadable rescue software for Sony memory card customers that recovers accidentally deleted files and corrupted photos and videos in various common formats.
